Course Outline

Week 1: Capturing Iconic Travel Shots
Identifying “mood” in a new location. Calling your own thoughts, feelings and ideas into play. Capturing subjects that speak of a sense of place.

Week 2: Showing the Culture
Capturing people and events of everyday life. Adding that touch of creativity. Appearing competent and working efficiently as a travel photographer.

Week 3: Using Different Lenses
Seeing and composing with different length glass. Zooms and primes for those on the go. Wide vistas vs. going in close. How much of the scene do you need to show? Photographing details effectively.

Week 4: Photographing People
What is a good people shot? Portraits and candids. Building a working rapport.

Week 5: Shooting Indoors
Shooting in low light. Embracing darkness. Exposing the world behind closed doors.

Week 6: Equipment, Tips and Putting it all Together.
Essential Kit. Protecting gear. Doing it safely. Bringing your trip to life. Editing and cataloging. Software, printing, websites and blogs.
